Welcome! I have been practicing psychotherapy since 1985 working with individuals, couples and families to help them increase well being, strengthen relationship bonds, and promote their lifelong development. When it comes to therapy, one size does not fit all. Effective therapy starts with a good fit and a positive, respectful relationship: I work collaboratively with clients to make sure we find the approach that is best suited to their goals. I assist clients to understand the connection between physical and emotional health and often integrate mindful awareness practices which are helpful in reducing the effects of stress, managing emotions, promoting immune system functioning, and increasing positive states of mind, attention, and concentration. I work with clients who want to strengthen self-esteem, reduce depression, anxiety, cope with effects of trauma or adversity, illness and loss, improve lifestyle and well being, and address career and life stage challenges. Couples may need assistance in preparing for marriage, dealing with the birth of a child, parenting struggles, the impact of trauma or adversity, divorce, illness or mental health problems, the impact of war, or the death of loved ones. I am experienced in working with intercultural, interfaith, gay and lesbian couples and families. I focus on helping families to strengthen emotional bonds, repair ruptures, address emotional needs, and facilitate the learning of new patterns of interaction which foster positive emotional experience.
